Police Chief Diamond Guide: What to Spend Diamonds On First (2026)

For Police Chief players who top up and want each Diamond to count, and for leaders who advise their members. Checked October 31, 2026.

Short answer: Spend Police Chief Diamonds on the second build queue first. The official newbie guide calls it the best value in the game. Then put Diamonds into VIP and hero pulls, and save general speed-ups for the longest Chief's Office and research timers. Do not convert Diamonds into resources, because resources come passively and inside packs.

Diamonds run your build queues, your VIP ladder and your hero roster. The game gives you plenty of places to spend them. Only a few return real value, and one burns Diamonds every time you touch it.

What should you spend Diamonds on in Police Chief?

Three purchases come first, in this order:

Second Build Queue. The official newbie guide on the Police Chief Discord calls the second build queue the best value in the game. With one queue your precinct sits idle half the time, no matter how many packs you buy. With two, every speed-up and every resource works at double the pace.

VIP points. VIP gives permanent account bonuses. Players report that VIP 6 adds another queue, which makes it the level most accounts plan around. Check the VIP screen on your own account before you buy toward it.

Hero pulls. Players point their next Diamonds at the Lucky Wheel for heroes. Heroes set the ceiling on patrol stages and deploy fights. Spin with a hero goal and a budget, then stop. Scattered daily spins give far less than the same Diamonds used in one planned session.

Should you buy resources with Diamonds in Police Chief?

Converting Diamonds directly into resources is very poor value in Police Chief, and it is the most common leak on accounts that top up a lot. Resources are the lowest-cost input in the entire economy. They flow from your precinct passively, they scale with your Public Safety value, and they arrive inside packs alongside the speedups and materials that actually justify the price. Diamonds spent on raw resources are Diamonds that were supposed to become a queue, a VIP level, or a hero.

If your resource income feels thin, the fix is not a Diamond conversion. It is the Public Safety system, covered below, and pack timing that loads resources when events pay you to spend them.

How should you use speedups in Police Chief?

Speed-ups are the other half of the Diamond question. Accounts that top up hold a stack of them, and most spend that stack badly.

General speedups go to the two things that gate your whole account: Chief's Office upgrades and Research Center research. The rule is simple: the longer the timer, the better the value. A general speed-up burned on a 40-minute build is missing later, when a multi-day Chief's Office level sits on your queue.

For research, the official newbie guide gives this order: Construction Speed, then Research Speed, then Extra Queue, then Battle Tech. Point your research speed-ups the same way.

Specific speedups for training, construction, and research go to their matching type, always. Matching type on the matching timer is where each minute of speedup does its full job. Spend the specific stacks first inside their category and hold the general stack for the longest timers on the board.

Use them inside event phases that score speed-ups and the same stack counts twice: once as progress, once as event points.

Why does Public Safety matter for a Police Chief account that tops up a lot?

Public Safety is the badge icon at the top center of the main screen, and it is the quiet multiplier on everything your spend produces. A high Public Safety value boosts resource output and makes the entire PD run more efficiently. That output boost is exactly why Diamond-to-resource conversion is poor value: the game already hands accounts that top up a growing resource engine, as long as the engine is maintained.

Maintenance is straightforward. If the top-left warning shows citizen report queues running too long, upgrade the reception facility and make sure enough reception staff are assigned to handle incoming reports. A backed-up reception desk drags Public Safety down, and dragging Public Safety down taxes every hour of production your precinct runs. For an account cycling real money through packs, letting that multiplier decay is paying full price for reduced output.

How do heroes and patrol skills fit into Diamond strategy in Police Chief?

The Lucky Wheel sits at number three on the priority list because heroes are not a cosmetic layer in Police Chief. They are the difference between clearing patrol stages and stalling on them.

When a stage wall appears, switch to manually activating skills instead of letting auto handle the timing. A pattern players use to break walls: wait for enemies to group up, trigger Aegis Leon's skill manually to interrupt and knock them back, then follow immediately with your marksman heroes' skills into the clustered pack for massive damage. Timing skills by hand routinely clears stages that auto play loses.

This is also the case for spending Diamonds on hero pulls. Manual skill play scales with the quality of the kit you are triggering. A stronger wheel hero does not just raise a power number, it raises what your hands can do with the same stage.

For spenders and alliance leaders

• Order of buys. Second build queue first, then VIP points, then planned hero pulls. Compare packs by what they add to those three, not by the Diamond number on the banner.
• Speed-ups go to the Chief's Office. It gates the other systems, so hold general speed-ups for its longest levels and for research in the official order above.
• Gear after heroes. The October 19 update (version 0.1.98) split Hero Equipment Forge levels into tiers. Price the next tier before you put Diamonds or packs into gear.
• Leaders: tell members never to convert Diamonds into resources before Alliance Mobilization. A "Spend 5,000 Diamonds" task pays very few points. See the alliance leader page.
