For Puzzles & Survival R5s and R4s who run the events their members play. Checked October 2026.
Short answer: A Puzzles & Survival alliance leader runs the calendar. Leaders start Defense of Alliance, Dead Rising and Speaker Trap, get 10 members to HQ 18 for Alliance Clash, keep 20+ active members for Alliance Showdown, and plan Zenith War. R4 and higher can clean the shared Showdown quest board.

In Puzzles & Survival, the leader does more than pick a name and a flag. Several of the best alliance events only start when a leader starts them, and two big ones have entry rules your members must meet first. Miss those and the whole alliance misses the rewards.
This guide covers what leaders start, what they must prepare, and how to keep members growing.
Events the leader starts
| Event | How it works | Leader job |
|---|---|---|
| Defense of Alliance | Active for one day once started. 30 minutes of zombie waves near your territory, bosses included. Rewards per cleared wave. | Start it when most members are online |
| Dead Rising | Waves attack Sanctuaries and shields do not stop them. Most troops heal on their own. AppGamer notes that two failed attacks in a row end your attacks. Members can reinforce each other for points. | Start it at peak time and set up reinforcements |
| Speaker Trap | An alliance building. Members who have been in the alliance 72+ hours can start or join rallies on it for points. | Start it every 3 days |
All rules from AppGamer. The 72-hour rule matters: new recruits cannot score Speaker Trap in their first three days, so recruit early in the cycle.
Events with entry rules
- Alliance Clash: at least 10 members at HQ 18 or higher. Runs 3 days, only day 3 is competitive.
- Alliance Showdown: at least 20 members. Registered on its own 10 minutes before start, and no one can switch alliances during it. R4+ can delete quests from the shared board (High Ground Gaming). Full guide: Alliance Showdown.
Track who is close to HQ 18. Two members pushed over the line can be the difference between entering Clash or not.
State war: Zenith War and Valiant Conquest
- Zenith War: every 2 weeks once the server is a few weeks old. Hold the Zenith Tech hub for 8 hours to win. Turrets fire on anyone not in the holding alliance. Wasteland War adds attacks on hubs in two other states.
- Valiant Conquest: 24 hours. Members travel to two other states for up to 4 hours to attack Sanctuaries or gather diamond mines, and defend their own mines from invaders.
For these, the leader sets targets and timing. Decide before the event who holds, who rallies and who gathers.
Base location
Members should move their bases next to the alliance on the world map (Pocket Gamer). It makes help, reinforcements and defense faster. Alliances can relocate, but High Ground Gaming notes that it means tearing down and rebuilding the Alliance Fort. Move between events, never during one.
Growing your members
- Help is free power. Members can help each other speed up builds, training and research. Ask everyone to tap help every time they log in.
- First join bonus. New players get a bonus the first time they join an alliance. Use it in your recruiting message.
- Codes and basics. Share our codes list and beginner guide with new members.
- Colour coverage. Alliance Trial is a puzzle boss fight for top damage. Make sure top members cover all five colours.
A weekly leader checklist
- Post the week's events and what to save.
- Check HQ 18 count before Clash.
- Check roster count before Showdown.
- Start Speaker Trap every 3 days.
- Schedule Defense of Alliance and Dead Rising at peak time.
- Set Zenith War roles.
Splitting work with R4s
No source lists every rank permission, but Showdown shows the pattern: R4 and higher can manage the quest board. Use your R4s the same way across the week:
- One R4 for Showdown: cleans the board and tracks personal scores.
- One R4 for war: Zenith War holds, rallies and Valiant Conquest targets.
- One R4 for recruiting: new members, codes, and the 72-hour Speaker Trap rule.
For spenders and alliance leaders
- Know who spends on what. Point your top spenders at gaps: a missing colour, a troop type, or the HQ 18 push for Clash.
- Buy before the window. Ask spenders to have speed-ups and Diamonds ready before Showdown and Clash, not during.
- Keep spenders safe. Big accounts are war targets. Remind them to shield before going offline in war weeks.
