For Puzzles & Survival players who already spend and want the most from each pack. Checked October 2026.
Short answer: The best Puzzles & Survival packs to buy are the ones that unlock time or a hero you are already building: an extra build queue first, then recruits or fragments for one target hero. Buy before events like Hero Upgrade, Diamond Expert or Trials of Survival, so the same spend also scores event rewards.
See Puzzles & Survival packs and prices
Puzzles & Survival shows a lot of offers. Most of them look good on their own. The question is which ones move your account the most, and when to buy them so they count twice.
Exact pack contents and prices change by offer and by country, so we rank pack types instead of single offers.
Pack types ranked
| Rank | Pack type | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Extra build queue | Two builds at once while it is active (Pocket Gamer) |
| 2 | Recruits and fragments for one hero | 10 fragments unlock a hero, more fragments enhance it. Focused fragments beat random pulls |
| 3 | Antiserum and Combat Manuals | The level and evolve limits on your best heroes |
| 4 | Speed-ups | Score in New Development, Ace Commander and Showdown on top of the time saved |
| 5 | Trials of Survival paid rewards | Extra rewards on a 7-day event you play anyway (AppGamer) |
| 6 | Diamonds | Most flexible, and they score in Diamond Expert. See our Diamonds guide |
This order is our view for a growing account. If your build queues are already full, start at rank 2.
What to skip
- Packs for heroes you will not finish. A half-built hero is wasted Antiserum.
- Daily points packs. High Ground Gaming says paying to reach 180 daily points is only needed for a few events.
- Anything bought only because of a timer. Offers come back in new forms.
Match packs to events
| Event | What scores | Pack to buy before it |
|---|---|---|
| Hero Upgrade | Hero fragments | Recruits, fragments |
| New Development | Speed-ups on builds, research, training | Speed-ups |
| Army Expansion | Troop training | Food, training speed-ups |
| Diamond Expert | Spending Diamonds | Diamonds |
| Chip / Cube Upgrade | Chip or Cube materials | Chip or Cube packs |
| Distress Signal | Signals, Samuel fragments | Diamonds for the 30 buyable signals |
Event rules from AppGamer and High Ground Gaming. More detail in our events guide.
A spending plan by monthly budget
| Monthly budget | Focus | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 50 USD | Time | Extra build queue first, then speed-ups saved for events |
| 50 to 500 USD | One hero a month | Pick one 5-star hero. Buy fragments before Hero Upgrade, Antiserum after |
| 500 USD and up | Account and alliance | Finish one colour at a time, fund Showdown and war weeks, use Diamond Expert for planned Diamond spend |
These are planning bands, not game rules. The split matters more than the total.
How to judge any single offer
When a new pack pops up, ask three questions before you buy:
- Does it fix my current limit? If your best hero is stuck on fragments, Antiserum packs do not help yet.
- Is a matching event close? If Hero Upgrade or New Development starts in a few days, wait and buy before it.
- Would I buy it without the timer? If the answer is no, skip it.
A pack that passes all three is worth it. Most that fail one come back later in a new form.
Packs for alliance events
Some of the best value comes from alliance weeks. In Alliance Showdown, every reward tier needs a personal score, so speed-ups bought before the week help you and the alliance. In Alliance Clash, members need HQ 18 to count, so build packs that push you over that line help the whole alliance enter. Ask your leader which event is next before you buy.
For spenders and alliance leaders
- Buy before the window. Load your budget before Showdown or Hero Upgrade opens, so inside the event you decide on scoring, not payments.
- Use the free side first. The newest codes in our codes list give 300 to 500 Diamonds each.
- Leaders: map what your top spenders buy. Point them at colour gaps and the HQ 18 push for Alliance Clash, so packs build alliance strength.
