Short answer: In Last Beacon Gold Grab (Gold Wars), you score Contest Points every second. Sit in the Rich Zone for +30 per second, gather gold sites for points per second plus a completion bonus, and stack Minor (+40) and Major (+120) buffs. The Undersea Vault gives +800 per second and doubles your buff points.
Gold Grab, also called Gold Wars, is a points race. You score every second you sit in the right zone, gather the right gold and hold the right buffs. That makes it simple to plan, and easy to lose if your shelter gets hit.
The numbers below come from the Gold Grab quick event guide by M4Dhouse Eclipse, shared in the official Last Beacon Discord on Oct 13 2026. We have not seen official numbers, so treat them as a strong community reference and check the event screen.

What the numbers tell you
Each step up in gold site doubles the points per second: 40, then 80, then 160. The completion bonus grows faster than that: 300, then 1,500, then 6,000. So finishing an Abundant Gold site is worth far more than starting two small ones.
Buffs add up quickly. Two Major Buff stacks give +240 per second, more than an Abundant Gold site on its own. And the Undersea Vault doubles buff points, so a player with several stacks gathering at the Vault scores far more than anyone else on the map.
The Rich Zone is free points. +30 per second for simply standing in the zone adds up over a full event, so move in early.
A simple plan
- Relocate into the Rich Zone as soon as the event opens.
- Gather the best gold site you can hold safely. A finished Scattered Gold beats a lost Abundant Gold.
- Keep buffs active so they build points every second.
- Protect your shelter. Some buffs are lost if your shelter is breached.
- Coordinate attacks with your alliance. Attacking other players can steal their buffs, and later in the contest, destroying a base gives more buffs.
The Undersea Vault fight
Because the Vault pays +800 per second and doubles buff points, it decides most Gold Grab rankings. Plan who gathers there. The best pick is the member with the most buff stacks and a strong defense, because they get the most from the doubling and are hardest to remove.
Send the rest of the alliance to the Abundant and Scattered sites around it. That keeps points flowing and makes the Vault harder to reach.
Peace or war?
Not every server fights. One player in the Discord thread says their server was too peaceful and ran NAP rules (non-aggression pacts) for the gold rush. If your server has a NAP, the race is about gathering speed and buffs, not attacks. If it does not, protect your shelter first.
For spenders and alliance leaders
- Gathering speed and march count win. More marches on more gold sites means more points per second. Packs with gathering boosts or extra march time pay off here.
- Shield up when you are away. Losing buffs to a shelter breach costs points every second until the event ends. A shield is the safest buy before Gold Grab.
- Leaders: name the Vault holder. Pick one strong member for the Undersea Vault and plan support around them.
- Leaders: agree on NAP or no NAP early. Talk with other R5s before the event. A clear rule saves troops for everyone.
