New dragons have come fast this fall. The developers posted a guide for each one on the official news site and grouped them in The Dragon Pit index. This page puts the five newest side by side, so you can decide where your relics go.

Players in the Discord were asking the same thing on October 31: which formation to run going into the next campaign, with Kalspire and Meleys in the mix.

Dates are when each official guide was posted, not always the day the dragon became available in your world.

Meleys, the Red Queen

You claim Meleys by entering The Dragon's Divide, the third campaign, which launched on September 24 (official guide). The game's Discord news said Smoketail is claimed the same way.

  • Scarlet Strike (odd rounds): Physical damage to the enemy with the highest Initiative, plus a Laceration stack (up to 10) that lowers its Initiative.
  • The Red Queen (rounds 3, 6 and 9): Physical damage to 3 enemies in any lane, with a chance of Laceration. Targets with Bleed get an extra stack.
  • Other Habits: Royal Rend adds Vulnerable or more Physical damage taken, Queen's Vengeance can Reflect basic attacks, and Brisk Might boosts the Strength and Initiative of your strongest ally.
  • Stats: very high Strength and Initiative, very fast march speed, low Instincts, extremely low Intelligence.

The guide says to aim her at the enemy's fastest dragon and keep the pressure on. Her big spikes start in round 3. Siege is a negative affinity for her.

Kalspire, the Radiant Conqueror

Kalspire is a Champion who turns basic attacks into extra damage and status effects (official guide).

  • Tactical Strike: after each basic attack, Tactical damage to the target and a chance to Bleed it and one adjacent enemy for 2 rounds.
  • Tactical Assault: adds Physical damage to another adjacent enemy and a chance to Panic two enemies for 2 rounds.
  • Battle Cunning: lowers the Strength and Intelligence of 3 enemies for the whole fight.
  • Radiant Conqueror: round 1, he takes less damage but is Stunned for 1 round. Round 2, for 5 rounds he cuts the Physical damage of the strongest enemy and the Fire damage of the smartest one.

The guide says he does best against strong frontlines and focused damage builds. Plan around his round 1 Stun.

Venator, the Shadow of the Wilds

Venator is a Legendary Warrior whose damage comes from chaining basic attacks (official guide).

  • Feral Strike: after each basic attack, 2 hits of Physical damage on one enemy. In rounds 4, 6 and 8, a chance to gain Double-Strike.
  • Hunter's Bane and Armor Break: lower one enemy's Intelligence (Hunters first) and raise one enemy's Physical damage taken.
  • Desperate Ambush: below 50% troops, extra Physical damage and a chance to Overwhelm, which stops the target from using active Commands.

He is strong at finishing low-troop targets and punishing Hunters. The guide warns that teams with Stagger can interrupt him, since almost all his damage comes from basic attacks.

Malachite, the Green Warden

Malachite is a Legendary support (official guide).

  • Warden's Rally: rounds 3, 6 and 9, Recovery on 3 allies. Rounds 2, 4, 7 and 9, Tactical damage to one enemy.
  • Collective Might: raises Strength for all allies for the whole fight.
  • Thunderous Roar and Forest's Instincts: chances each round to give allies Advantage, more Physical damage and less Tactical damage taken.
  • Lightning Strike: start of round 1, a chance to give one adjacent ally more Strength plus First-Strike and Double-Strike for 3 rounds.

The guide says to pair him with one or two strong damage dealers who can use First-Strike and Double-Strike.

Also check affinity. Positive affinity raises combat stats and siege damage for that troop type, and negative affinity lowers them (A Guide to Dragons). A dragon that loves Cavalry is wasted on an army of Spearmen.

Is another dragon coming?

Players in the Discord were already guessing on October 31 about whether the next campaign brings another dragon. Nothing official has been announced that we could find. Keep an eye on the official news site, where every new dragon so far has had its own guide.

How to get relics for them

Every dragon grows with Star Rank, and Star Rank comes from Dragon Relics. Relics come from Dragon Chests, which open with Dragonbone, Dragonglass or Dragonfire Keys. Keys come from Chapter Quests, campaign stage objectives and special events, and Dragonbone Keys are the most common. Star Rank, Habits, keys and relics all carry over between Reigns (campaign guide).

For spenders and alliance leaders

  • Pick one, then go deep. A dragon's power depends on Star Rank and relics. Relics split across four new dragons build none of them well.
  • Buy keys and relics before a new campaign, not during the rush. They carry over, so relics bought late in a Reign still count on day one of the next.
  • Leaders: plan the army as a group. A couple of Malachite players supporting your strongest damage dealers, plus a Kalspire or two against fortified enemies, covers most needs. Ask members which dragons they already have at high Star Rank before you assign roles.
  • More leader tools are on our alliance leaders page.
