For Last Beacon: Survival players and alliance leaders who want the July systems explained. Checked October 31 2026.
Short answer: The Overlord, added Jul 22 2026, gives troop stats when you upgrade it and explores the ocean for resources. The Lumen Era, added Jul 29, puts Lumen Cores into buildings, troops and research. Put resources into one lineup first, then feed the Overlord and your Lumen Cores.
Two systems changed how Last Beacon: Survival accounts grow in July 2026: Overlord Exploration and the Lumen Era. This guide explains what each does, using the official patch notes from the Discord. Where the notes give no numbers, we say so.
Overlord Exploration (Jul 22 2026)
The Jul 22 patch added Overlord Exploration. The notes say two things about it:
- Upgrading your Overlord raises your troop stats.
- The Overlord explores the ocean for resources.
The same patch added Drone and Overlord CP rankings. Your Overlord now counts in the leaderboard, so it is part of how other players see your strength.
How to approach the Overlord
Troop stats help every fight. That makes Overlord upgrades a steady investment, like Research. Our Combat Power guide says Research is underrated because the bonuses are permanent. The same logic applies here: an Overlord upgrade does not run out after one event.
The Lumen Era (Jul 29 2026)
On Jul 29 the game started a new era called the Lumen Era. The notes say Lumen Cores now appear in buildings and in troops, and in research. That means the Lumen Era touches nearly every part of your shelter.
The same patch added:
- An event with intel missions that give Dim Lumen Cores, which you exchange for rewards.
- Cumulative recharge reward tiers.
- Wonder skills that unlock at every 25% of construction.
- A Wonder donation ranking.
The notes do not give the cost or size of Lumen Core bonuses. Open a building in your shelter to see its Lumen Core slot and the numbers for your account.
Order of spending
- Build a strong main lineup first. Star Rating beats quantity.
- Upgrade the Lighthouse so other buildings can level.
- Feed the Overlord for troop stats.
- Add Lumen Cores where your account shows a slot.
Wonder skills and your alliance
Wonder skills unlock at each 25% of construction, and donations are ranked. That makes the Wonder a shared project. Alliances that donate steadily unlock skills sooner for everyone.
For spenders and alliance leaders
- Know the cumulative recharge tiers. They reward total spending over time. Plan packs you were going to buy anyway so they count.
- Look at the Lumen event before you buy. Intel missions are free. Do them first.
- Organize Wonder donations. Set a daily donation target for the alliance. The ranking shows who is helping.
- Watch the CP ranking. Overlord CP is now ranked. Members who ignore it fall behind.
- Do not rush all three at once. Pick one system a week.
