Days of Empire Updates (2026): Every Big Change This Year

For Days of Empire players and alliance leaders who want to know what changed in 2026. Checked November 3, 2026.

Short answer: Days of Empire updates about once a month. The latest, version 3.40.001 in October 2026, added the Octopus Hoard events and new Archer and Lancer treasures. Earlier 2026 updates brought the Hydra all-troop pet, two new heroes, the Frozen Frontier battlefield, Citadel Level 3 and a shorter 7-day Clash of Twin Thrones.

Days of Empire is an Ottoman-era strategy game from ONEMT. You play the heir to an aging sultan, summon more than 50 historical heroes, build a fortress, fight on land and at sea, and join an alliance for Kingdom War. The game has run for years and still ships a content update roughly every four weeks.

2026 update timeline

The changes that matter most

Citadel Level 3 and Glory Level

June unlocked Citadel Level 3 and the Glory Level, and July added a Glory level display. This is the new top end of base growth, so most long-term spending now points here.

Pets: Hydra and earlier red pets

July added the Hydra, an all-troop pet. Earlier pets like the Thunder Rhino and Raging Tiger were tied to events. An all-troop pet helps every army build, which makes it a safer target than a pet for one troop type.

Treasures and troop skills

Almost every update adds a treasure or a skill for one troop type: Archer, Lancer, Musketeer, Spearman, Trebuchet, Mounted Archer and Chariots all got something in 2026. If you run one main troop type, watch the notes for your type and save resources for that month.

New heroes

A new Spearman hero came in May and two more heroes in August. New heroes land with the monthly updates, so keep summon scrolls for update weeks.

Clash of Twin Thrones gets shorter

This cross-kingdom event matches six comparable kingdoms. Season 2 started in December 2025, and in May 2026 it was cut from 10 days to 7. Our alliance and Kingdom War guide covers how leaders can prepare.

Holiday events every year

Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha each get their own event set, and so do New Year and the anniversary in May. These repeat every year, so you can plan for them early.

For spenders and alliance leaders

• Save Gold for update week. New heroes, pets and treasures arrive with the monthly update. Keep Gold back for that week, so you can go for the new hero or pet on day one.
• Citadel Level 3 push. If you are close, line up speedups and resource packs for the Citadel, since it is the newest top-end goal.
• Holiday events. Eid and Ramadan events come back every year with their own packs. If you plan to buy anyway, wait for these windows.
• Leaders: Clash of Twin Thrones now lasts 7 days, not 10. Brief your alliance before day one, so nobody wastes the first days. See the alliance leader page.
