For new Dark War Survival players, and for alliance leaders who want one link to send recruits. Checked October 2026.
Short answer: Start Dark War Survival by rushing the Watchtower, since it caps hero levels and opens the world map at level 7 with the Radar. Join an alliance right away, keep every survivor assigned to a job, push Adventure Mode after each upgrade, and build three to five heroes from one faction.

Dark War Survival is a zombie survival strategy game from Omnilojo Pte Ltd, rated 4.5 from 74K ratings on the App Store. You run a shelter, put survivors to work, recruit heroes and fight with an alliance on a shared world map.
The first week decides how fast you grow. Here is what to do, in order, and why.
Step 1: rush the Watchtower
The Watchtower is your most important building. It caps how far your heroes can level. A Watchtower at level 10 means heroes stop at level 10. Its upgrades need other buildings first, so follow the chapter tasks, which point you to the right ones (BlueStacks).
At Watchtower 7, with the Radar Station online, the world map opens. That is where gathering, rallies and other players come in.
Step 2: put every survivor to work
Each workstation needs a survivor. An empty workstation produces less. Survivors also have health and morale. If you neglect them, they get sick and stop working.
Food matters most for keeping survivors happy, and Dorms raise how many survivors you can house (Pocket Gamer). The main resources are Wood, Food, Iron, Electricity and Coins. Early on, Wood and Food are the usual bottleneck.
Tap survivors with an exclamation mark or icon over their head. Their short scenes can give Rubies, speed-ups or even a skill.
Step 3: push Adventure Mode
Adventure Mode is a strong early source of resources and it unlocks the Radar Station. Check for new stages after each upgrade. It also opens Into the Forbidden Zone, a tower-defense side mode with a small Ruby income.
Step 4: pick heroes the smart way
You start with free heroes from the story, like Scarlett and Cecilia. Level them to get through early stages, but do not pour your rare materials into them. Pocket Gamer puts most tutorial heroes in C tier.
Heroes come from the Radio Station with Prime Recruit Tickets, from Radar mission fragments and from events. Three rules:
- Pick one faction. Fighter, Shooter or Rider. Keep your troops in the same faction.
- Build deep, not wide. Three to five strong heroes beat ten half-built ones.
- Check the list before you invest. Our October 2026 hero tier list shows who is worth it.
Step 5: join an alliance on day one
Build the Alliance Center and join an active alliance. Joining gives premium currency and resources. Alliance Help cuts your build and research timers, as often as members tap it (Pocket Gamer). Tap Help for others too. It costs nothing.
Once the Radar is up, move your base near your alliance. Bases close together are harder to raid.
Step 6: claim the free rewards
- Redeem every working code from our codes list.
- Clear Radar missions daily for speed-ups, fragments and Rubies.
- Check your inventory for unopened resource packs before you buy anything.
- Start the longest upgrade right before you log off, so the timer runs while you sleep.
Common beginner mistakes
- Leaving the second construction queue for later. Two queues roughly double your building speed.
- Spending speed-ups the moment you get them. Save some for Alliance Duel days that score them.
- Attacking players without scouting first. Lost troops cost healing and time.
- Spreading hero materials across every new hero you pull.
Your first-week checklist
- Day 1: finish the tutorial, follow chapter tasks, build the Alliance Center and join an alliance.
- Day 2: assign every survivor, build Dorms, push Adventure stages after each upgrade.
- Day 3: get the Watchtower toward level 7 and bring the Radar Station online to open the world map.
- Day 4: move your base next to your alliance. Turn on auto-join for alliance rallies.
- Day 5: pick your faction and your first three heroes. Stop feeding the rest.
- Day 6 and 7: clear Radar missions daily, redeem codes, and save a few speed-ups for the next Alliance Duel.
If you only remember one thing: the Watchtower sets your pace. Every other building exists to unlock the next Watchtower level.
For spenders and alliance leaders
- Three first buys. Pocket Gamer names the additional construction queue (a one-day queue is 800 of the premium currency, the permanent unlock about 3 USD), the Hero Code pack and the Growth Pass.
- Get Guy early. The first top-up pack gives Guy, an S tier hero, for about 1 USD.
- Plan before you scale. Read the best packs to buy guide before you spend more than a few dollars.
- Leaders: pin this guide for recruits. New members who join on day one and stay near the alliance are the ones still active a month later.
