Sword x Staff Beginner Guide for Spenders: How to Build a Strong Account From Day One

July 14, 2026

In Sword x Staff, the first week sets the trajectory of your account for the entire season. Most beginner guides cover the basics without answering the question serious players actually have: given a real budget to deploy, what should I do first, what should I save for later, and where do spenders actually pull ahead of everyone else from day one?

This guide answers that question directly. It is a sequenced walkthrough of the first seven days for players who plan to spend, written in the order the decisions actually happen.

For the deeper strategic framework behind these decisions, and why each system compounds the way it does over a full season, the Sword x Staff high spender guide covers the full picture.

Before you start: should you reroll?

Sword x Staff has a 200-pull guaranteed Legendary pity on the Skill Gacha, which means every account eventually reaches a confirmed pull regardless of starting luck. The case for rerolling is weaker here than in most gacha games.

Skip rerolling if: your guild or friends are already on a specific server. Servers have limited capacity and fill permanently. Getting locked out of your guild's server because you rerolled is a worse outcome than any starting skill advantage rerolling could produce. Server lock-in outweighs the pull upside in almost every case.

Reroll only if: you are starting fresh with no server commitment, you have a clear skill target in mind (not just "good pulls" generally), and you have 15 to 20 minutes per reroll attempt. Warrior target: Heavy Impact, the best single-target boss-killer at Tier 1. Mage target: Water Assault, the best opening AoE with Water synergy. If either of those lands in your first 45 pulls plus the 10 forced tutorial pulls, stop.

For players joining a guild from day one, skip the reroll entirely and claim the 13 active redemption codes immediately instead. They deliver roughly 200 Dawnium, 13 Destiny Fruits, and 13 Stellatie across the standard bundles with no time investment beyond entering codes.

Day one: the four actions that matter most

1. Pick your class with your spend tier in mind

Sword x Staff starts with two base paths: Warrior (Sword) or Mage (Staff). For spenders, this is not just a playstyle question.

Duelist (Warrior path): the safest choice at any spend level. Performs in solo, boss hunting, and PvP without requiring specific rare pulls to function. The correct default if you are not yet committed to a specific endgame build direction.

Sorcerer (Mage path): highest ceiling for whale accounts. Requires investment to fully unlock its four elemental modes, but produces the highest damage variety in endgame content and the most resistance to counter-builds. Pick this if you are prepared to commit Vouchers to the Cinder Ridge Premium Banner consistently.

Knight (Warrior path): the highest-value guild asset at serious spend levels, because F2P players avoid it due to Block stat requirements. A whale Knight on a new server has outsized influence from day one because tanks are always scarce. Pick this if your primary goal is guild leadership and raid utility rather than individual damage rankings.

Sage (Mage path): endgame support class, best when fully invested. Not recommended as a day-one pick for accounts that are still building foundations.

The critical fact to absorb before committing: every account gets a free lossless class change at level 100 in Aqualis. No early class choice is permanent. Pick the class that performs at your current spend level, not the theoretical endgame peak.

2. Activate every Goddess Statue you encounter

Goddess Statues are the most important map interaction in Verdantglade. Each activated statue increases your Blessing Level by one, which raises the production level cap for every resource type on your Cart. Without Goddess Statue activation, your Cart hits its ceiling early and every other upgrade that depends on Cart output stalls.

Map exploration is also the primary driver of idle income quality. The further you push exploration, the better the resources your account earns offline. Every hour you spend on anything other than exploration in the first two days is an hour your idle income is running at a lower rate than it should be.

Day one action: push map exploration aggressively. Activate every Goddess Statue before doing anything else. This includes using the free Bed speed-up only after activating any new Goddess Statue encountered that session, so the bonus applies to a larger Blessing Level pool.

3. Join a guild at level 15, not later

Guild access unlocks at character level 15. Join an active guild the moment it becomes available, not when it feels convenient. Spenders get 5 Guild Donations per day compared to the F2P cap of 3. Those two extra daily donations accumulate into a significant Guild Point advantage over a full season from nothing more than logging in and donating.

Guild Boss cycles drop Skill Shard Vouchers every run. Missing Guild Boss cycles in the first week is missing the primary ongoing source of skill upgrade materials. An active guild where Boss cycles run consistently is not a soft benefit. It is a direct input into your skill development cadence from week one.

4. Buy the Monthly Card immediately

The Monthly Card is the highest value-per-Voucher purchase on the entire Sword x Staff storefront. It boosts AFK gains and EXP daily for an entire month from a single purchase. Every hour your account is idle in the first 30 days is an hour where the Monthly Card is either compounding or not.

Buy it on day one, not when the store feels urgent. Follow it with the Month Fund as the second standing purchase. Together these two are the floor from which every other spending decision in Sword x Staff is evaluated.

Days 2—3: the Hero's Guide relic and the spender wall

The Hero's Guide relic is the closest thing to a hard pay-to-progress gate in Verdantglade. It unlocks on the Stellaris Path through Voucher spends or direct pack purchases, boosts EXP gain, and resonates with other relics for an additional 20% bonus. The EXP curve it affects compounds across every kingdom that follows Verdantglade.

For spenders, acquiring the Hero's Guide relic early is one of the highest-returning early investments in the game. It does not feel dramatic in isolation. Across six months of leveling, the compounded EXP advantage it delivers is the difference between an account that transitions between kingdoms on schedule and one that grinds each threshold longer than it should.

The relic upgrade discipline applies here too: do not spread upgrade materials across multiple relics simultaneously. Focus on four to six Purple or Gold relics, not breadth. For DPS classes, target Mythic relics and take Crit Rate. For Knight, take Block Rate. The Relic Gacha guarantees a rarity drop every 10 pulls.

Days 3—5: skill build focus and what not to spend Vouchers on

Save Vouchers for the Cinder Ridge Premium Banner

The single highest-leverage Voucher discipline in Sword x Staff's first week: do not pull on the standard blue banner with Vouchers. The standard banner has a broad pool of Tier 1 skills that become obsolete within weeks. The Cinder Ridge Premium Banner (pink) contains advanced subclass skills that define endgame builds.

Every Voucher spent on the standard banner in week one is a Voucher that did not go toward the skills that actually determine your account's ceiling. Use free tickets, redemption code rewards, and event currency for standard banner exploration. Save every paid Voucher for the Premium Banner.

The 200-pull guaranteed Legendary selector on the standard banner is worth planning around: at 200 pulls, you pick any skill from the pool. Do not spend Vouchers to reach this faster. Let free pull accumulation carry you to the selector naturally and spend toward the Premium Banner with your actual Voucher budget.

Pick four active and four passive skills, level those only

Sword x Staff gives you more skills than you need. The correct approach is to identify the four active skills and four passive skills that directly support your class role and build, and route all upgrade materials toward that set exclusively.

Leveling skills outside your core build is not preparation for flexibility. It is material drain that slows your core build's development. A focused set of Epic skills with matching synergy consistently outperforms a broader collection of Legendary skills with mismatched roles.

Early skill priorities by class that have verified value from launch:

  • Warrior/Duelist: Heavy Impact (single-target boss), Whirlwind Slash (AoE clearing)
  • Mage/Sorcerer: Water Assault (AoE + Water synergy)
  • Knight: Starfall Slash is the core 3rd promotion skill, but save upgrade materials until that promotion unlocks rather than committing them to Tier 1 Knight skills

Do not upgrade early gear heavily

Gear in Verdantglade has a level cap tied to the zone. Cinder Ridge drops gear that makes Verdantglade gear obsolete immediately. Over-investing in enhancement and refinement on Verdantglade gear is one of the most common early material drains for new accounts. Farm gear from dungeons to hit Combat Power thresholds, but do not pour upgrade resources into pieces you will replace at the next kingdom transition.

Gear slot priority by class: Duelists and Sorcerers should prioritize Weapon first, then Off-hand, Shoes, and Armor/Helmet last. Knights should prioritize Weapon or Shoes depending on whether their build skews offensive or defensive.

Days 5—7: dungeon cadence and daily routine

Run dungeons at your refresh tier from day one

Daily Dungeons are the primary Gear and Gear Shard source in Sword x Staff. Two free runs per day are available, with paid Dawnium refreshes unlocking more. For mid-tier spenders, four refreshes across all dungeon types daily is the correct entry ladder. For accounts at $1,000 per month, six refreshes. Both numbers should be hit consistently from the first available day, not built up to gradually.

The hard cap is six banked runs. Runs that would take you above six are lost permanently. Do not bank runs across multiple days expecting to burst later: run at your refresh ladder number every single day.

The transition burst rule applies immediately when it becomes relevant: when the Verdantglade to Cinder Ridge dungeon transition opens, burst to maximum refreshes on day one of the new tier. Early gear from a new dungeon compounds against every account that waited.

Establish the daily routine before it becomes automatic

The daily actions that produce the highest return in Sword x Staff are not complicated. They are easy to skip because none of them feel urgent. The accounts that compound fastest are the ones that run these without needing to think about them:

Collect idle Cart rewards before the 36-hour cap. Missing the cap means lost resources that do not carry forward. Use the free Bed speed-up every session after activating any newly found Goddess Statue. Stop at the Vendor Booth (unlocks at level 20) and buy Wood, Stone, and Quest Scrolls from general goods. Make all five Guild Donations. Run dungeon refreshes at your daily ladder number. Check the shop and buy Bonding Ropes and Goddess Tokens on sight whenever they appear in a refresh.

The Stone Tablet Quiz resets daily and rewards large resource payouts for correct answers. Run it every day.

What spenders do differently in the first seven days

Free-to-play accounts in Sword x Staff's first week are optimizing for resource efficiency: pulling only on free tickets, doing the minimum viable dungeon runs, and banking resources carefully because everything is scarce.

Spending accounts optimize for acceleration: buying the Monthly Card and Month Fund immediately so every idle hour compounds, acquiring the Hero's Guide relic before the EXP gap widens, hitting the correct dungeon refresh ladder from day one rather than building up to it, joining an active guild immediately and running five donations per day rather than three, and saving every Voucher for the Cinder Ridge Premium Banner rather than spending into the standard banner out of impatience.

The decisions are not complicated. The discipline is in making them consistently from the first session rather than correcting them a month later when the gap is already visible.

Sword x Staff beginner guide for spenders: FAQs

Should I reroll in Sword x Staff?

Skip rerolling if your guild or friends are already on a specific server. Server capacity is limited and permanent: rerolling risks locking yourself out of your guild's server, which is a worse outcome than any skill advantage rerolling produces. If you have no server commitment, reroll only with a specific target in mind: Heavy Impact for Warrior, Water Assault for Mage. Each reroll run takes 15 to 20 minutes and delivers roughly 45 free pulls before redemption codes.

What should I buy first in Sword x Staff as a new spender?

Monthly Card first, always. It boosts AFK gains and EXP daily for an entire month from a single purchase, compounding across every idle hour from the moment you buy it. Month Fund second. Both should be standing monthly renewals. Every other store decision is evaluated on top of this floor, not instead of it.

What is the Hero's Guide relic in Sword x Staff?

The Hero's Guide relic unlocks on the Stellaris Path through Voucher spends or direct pack purchases. It boosts EXP gain and resonates with other relics of the same element for an additional 20% bonus. It is the closest thing to a hard pay-to-progress gate in Verdantglade. Acquiring it early compounds across every kingdom transition that follows and is one of the highest-returning early spender investments in the game.

Should I spend Vouchers on the standard banner in Sword x Staff?

No. Route all Vouchers to the Cinder Ridge Premium Banner (pink). The standard banner contains Tier 1 skills that become obsolete within weeks. The Premium Banner has advanced subclass skills that define endgame builds. Use free tickets, event currency, and redemption code rewards for standard banner pulls. Save every paid Voucher for the Premium Banner.

What is the Goddess Statue in Sword x Staff?

Goddess Statues are map objects in Verdantglade and later regions. Each activated statue increases your Blessing Level by one, which raises the production level cap for every resource type on your Cart. Activating Goddess Statues is the highest-priority map action in Verdantglade because Cart production feeds almost every other upgrade system. 100% map exploration also clears fog and improves idle drop efficiency permanently.

How many dungeon refreshes should a spender do in Sword x Staff?

For accounts spending around $1,000 per month, six refreshes across all four dungeon types daily. For accounts at $3,000 per month, eight. For $5,000 per month or season-title chasers, ten. Hit your number consistently every day rather than banking runs: the cap is six banked runs and overflow is permanently lost.

When should I join a guild in Sword x Staff?

At level 15, the moment guild access unlocks. Do not wait. Spenders make five donations per day compared to the F2P cap of three, and Guild Boss cycles drop Skill Shard Vouchers every run. Missing guild content in the first week means missing the primary source of skill upgrade materials for your build. Join the most active guild available on your server at level 15.
