VIP 6 is your first spending target...

VIP 6 unlocks the 2nd construction queue permanently. In a game where every building upgrade gates HQ progression, having two builders running simultaneously doubles your shelter development speed. HQ Rush: only upgrade what's required

‍

Your HQ (Headquarters) gates everything — troop tiers, building unlocks, hero capacity. The efficient path: only evolve buildings that your HQ requires for its next level. You need one building at the required level, not all buildings. If the HQ upgrade requires a Level 12 Farm, upgrade one Farm to 12 — not all four. Every resource spent on unnecessary building upgrades delays your HQ progression.

Hero Investment: focus on three, then expand

Early game hero investment should concentrate on three heroes: Liam, Charlie, and Peggy. These are the easiest to level because campaign and daily missions provide their Battle Manuals and evolution cards. Charlie is the best Elite hero — awaken him as soon as possible (skill order: 1-3-2-4). Jaden is also easy to level through zombie hunting.

Use speedups early (don't hoard)

Contrary to the instinct to save speedups, spending them early accelerates your shelter progression when it matters most. Early HQ levels have short build times — speedups eliminate these and get your shelter producing resources faster. The faster you reach higher HQ levels, the better your AFK-equivalent production becomes. You'll earn more speedups through progression than you'll ever save by hoarding.

Join an active alliance immediately...

‍

Alliance membership provides construction help (reducing build timers), alliance tower territory (resource protection), and access to alliance events. Every hour without an alliance is lost help speed and missed event rewards. Target an alliance with high activity and multiple alliance towers. If the first alliance is inactive, migrate to a better one within the first week — the compound benefit of active help and territory far outweighs any social cost.

Doomsday: Last Survivors Gem Spending Priority for Competitive Players

1. VIP 6 (2nd construction queue). Non-negotiable first priority.

2. VIP 9 (free Golden Puzzle daily). Second VIP target. The daily Golden Puzzle compounds into significant hero fragment and resource income over weeks.

3. Battle Center and Tower leveling. T6 troops require both Battle Center and Tower at Level 25. This costs gems for Victory Badges and Toolboxes. Start investing toward this milestone after VIP 9.

4. Lucky Roulette for Tom. Tom's rage skill (15% damage reduction across up to 5 squads) makes him a valuable support hero. 4.2K gems per Roulette cycle guarantees 15 Tom fragments. Recruit him during this window.

5. Police Station Advanced Searches. Advanced Search produces Legendary heroes. This is your primary hero acquisition method. Budget gems for consistent Advanced Searches alongside VIP and Battle Center progression.

Keep training troops constantly. Training queues should never be empty. Focus on one troop type initially — whichever matches your primary hero's specialization (infantry for Rubina, riders for Felix, ranged for Julia). Once you have T4+ of your main type, expand to other types for rally flexibility.

Troop tiers matter more than troop quantity. A smaller army of T5 troops outperforms a larger army of T3 in every combat mode. Push toward Battle Center Level 25 to unlock T6 — this is the single largest troop power spike in the game and justifies significant gem investment.
