For Dark War Survival players who want every Ruby to go into something that pays back. Checked October 2026.
Short answer: Rubies are the premium currency in Dark War Survival. Get them free from daily Radar missions, survivor scenes, Into the Forbidden Zone, codes and joining an alliance. Spend them first on a second construction queue, then VIP progress, then hero events. Never spend them on random timer skips.

Rubies speed up everything in Dark War Survival. They also go fast. The difference between a strong account and a stuck one is often where the Rubies went in the first month.
Below: every free source we could confirm, the spending order, and what to never spend them on.
Free ways to get Rubies
| Source | How often | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Radar missions | Daily | Also give speed-ups, materials and hero fragments |
| Survivor scenes | When a survivor shows an icon | Some scenes give Rubies |
| Into the Forbidden Zone | As you progress | Tower-defense side mode with a small Ruby income |
| Joining an alliance | Once | Gives premium currency and resources |
| Codes | When new ones drop | See our codes list |
| Events and mail | Often | Event milestones and maintenance gifts |
Radar missions, survivor scenes and Into the Forbidden Zone come from BlueStacks. The alliance join reward comes from Pocket Gamer.
Where to spend Rubies, in order
- Second construction queue. If you do not own the permanent one, a one-day queue costs 800 of the premium currency (Pocket Gamer). Two queues roughly double your building speed. The permanent unlock is about 3 USD, which is the better deal if you play every day.
- VIP to level 6. VIP 6 gives a second research queue. VIP buffs are permanent. See the VIP guide.
- Hero events. Lucky Chest and Goodie Bazaar are where top heroes come from. Save Rubies between events and spend them inside the window, on a hero in your faction.
- Shop items when the price drops. Skill books and speed-ups in the Time-Limited Shop. See the weekly shop guide.
What to never spend Rubies on
- Skipping short timers. Alliance Help and speed-ups do that for free.
- Random pulls with no target hero.
- Basic resources, which come free from Adventure and gathering.
- Refreshes of a shop you have already cleared.
Rubies and Dawn Badge
Rubies are what you spend in the game. Dawn Badge is the unit our Dark War page sells top-ups in, in five sizes from 2,000 to 100,000. 10,000 Dawn Badge is 99.99 USD in the game and 10,000 credits in Packsify. How it shows in your store can differ by region, so check your own store before you buy.
A simple Ruby plan
Our own rule of thumb. Keep a reserve for the next hero event you care about. Spend the rest on the queue and VIP. When the hero event opens, spend the reserve in the first days, while shard targets are still in reach.
Common Ruby mistakes
- Buying a one-day queue every day for weeks. At 800 a day, the permanent unlock for about 3 USD pays back fast if you play daily.
- Pulling on every banner. Rubies spread across many heroes finish none of them.
- Spending the reserve before the event. A hero event with no Rubies left is a wasted window.
- Ignoring free sources. Radar missions and survivor scenes take minutes and pay every day.
Fix these four and most accounts have more Rubies within a month without spending a cent more.
How much do free players get?
No source we trust gives a reliable number, and it changes with your activity, alliance and events. The best way to know yours is to track it. Write down your Ruby balance on Monday, play as usual, and check again the next Monday without spending. That one number tells you how big a hero event you can plan for on free Rubies, and how much a top-up would need to add.
Then decide. If your free Rubies already cover the queue and steady VIP progress, save the rest for the one hero event that matters to your lineup.
Track it for two or three weeks and the number gets reliable enough to plan a whole month around.
And check your mail after maintenance. Gifts sent to every player are easy to miss.
For spenders and alliance leaders
- Rubies are time. Every Ruby you spend on a permanent unlock keeps paying. Every Ruby on a timer skip is gone.
- Top up before the event. Load your balance a few days before Lucky Chest, Goodie Bazaar or Duel week. See the top-up guide.
- Leaders: tell new members the spending order on day one. It saves them from the most common early mistake.
